6. Inspiration and Christian Foundation

The project was inspired by the life and work of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who dedicated her life to serving the poorest and most vulnerable people, particularly those experiencing homelessness, hunger, and extreme poverty.

Following her example of compassionate service, “You Gave Me Something to Eat” seeks to see Christ in every person who is hungry, homeless, or in need. The project strives to serve each individual with dignity, respect, compassion, and love.

The words of Jesus in Matthew 25:35 provide the spiritual foundation for this mission:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.”

Inspired by Christ’s call and by Saint Mother Teresa’s example of selfless service, the project seeks to transform faith into action—one meal, one person, and one act of love at a time.

12. Conclusion

“You Gave Me Something to Eat” is a simple project with a significant human impact. Every Friday, a group of approximately 20 people joins together to purchase, prepare, and distribute between 150 and 170 meals to people in need in the city of Camagüey, Cuba.

Inspired by Jesus Christ and the example of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the project is a humble response to the call to serve those who are most vulnerable.

With the support of generous individuals and the community, this work of love can continue and reach even more people.

Because when we share our bread, we also share hope.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.”
